Adventures on the Oregon Coast

The west coast drive along the Oregon coast is breathtaking. There are so many historic and recreational points of interest along the way. Explore the wild side of the Oregon coast with a seaside hike from Ecola State Park. Take a tour of the Bandon cheese factory. Discover the maritime secrets at the Newport Aquarium. Examine the sea lions in their natural habitat up close.

morgansOur trek down the Oregon coast began near Tillamook on Route 101 and continued for about 10 days through Brookings as we headed south to see the California Redwoods. We sampled lots of local cuisine along the way. This is where our quest to find the best clam chowder in the USA began. A front-runner in our contest was found at Morgan’s Country Kitchen in Florence, Oregon (not far from some of the biggest dunes we encountered in the state.)

We also enjoyed tasty homemade cobbler after our meal at this same fabulous find.

Collectively we viewed nearly half the historic lighthouses majestically towering along the Pacific shoreline of the beaver state. ¬†Next time we find ourselves¬† in the vicinity of these beacons in the night, we’ll be sure to see all eleven along the coast.
