Description
The Arctic is located north of the Arctic Circle and is generally divided into two zones; the High Arctic Zone which is closest to the North Pole and the Low Arctic Zone a little further south. The climate of the Arctic is extremely cold with long periods of darkness in the winter months and long periods of light in the summer. This extreme weather makes survival a challenge and Arctic animals have developed some interesting adaptations that allow them to live in one of the harshest environments on the planet.
